Vasco Da Gama, South Goa

Vasco Da Gama : Is located on the narrow western tip of  Marmagoa (also known as Mormugao) peninsula, overlooking the mouth of the Zuari River. It is 29 kms southwest of Panjim. Dabolim, Goa's airport, lies 4 kms southeast of Vasco da Gama.The main town of Vasco is interlinked with parallel roads moving in small lanes.
The main attraction of Vasco is the Church of St. Andrews, which was built about 400 years back. Vasco is famous for Murmagao Port, one of India's few natural harbours. Vasco has two famous beaches, the bigger Bogmalo beach and the other beach is the Hollant beach which is quite small. Vasco-da-Gama has key shipping center, Goa’s important economy, this place is also surrounded by huge numbers of mines. Vasco also has a small railway station, running its service to many neighboring places.

Margao, South Goa

Margao : Margao is the administrative capital of south Goa and is the capital of Salcete Taluka. Located on the banks of the River Sal, Margao or Madgaon is among the oldest recorded towns in Goa and is famous for the enormous Portuguese style mansions or villas which mark its landscape.
Margao is well known for its rich historical past and diverse cultural heritage. There are two small chapels in Margao , the first is San Joaquim Chapel, built in 1789 and second The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary built in the year 1767. One more church worth seeing is Mount Church – Nossa Senhora da Piedade, which was built here in the year 1820.
The town has Jorge Barreto Park as its center of attraction, surviving some old century’s buildings, the municipal building along with a library, which was built in the year 1905. There are arcades and verandahs which are colour drained standing to the southern part, peeping outside from there gives a view of the constant moving traffic and a colourful garden.

Canacona, South Goa

Canacona : Canacona town is located in the southern most part of Goa, in South Goa district. It borders Karnataka in the South and is famous for the Canacona Beach and the Palolem beach.
Canacona's beach belt is among the most scenic and Palolem is a milder recreation of an east-meets-west Goan beach, with a rich variety of exotic food and accommodation to cater to the international palate. Besides these there are nearly a dozen-and-half lesser-known (or even hidden) beaches.
The most prominent Hindu institution of Canacona is the Parthagali Math ("Portuguese Hindu Mutt") which is a five centuries-old ashram and cult headquarters built in a mix of Portuguese and Hindu architectural styles. Other attractions are the Shree Mallikarjun Temple, Shri Navdurga Temple, Cotigo Wildlife Sanctuary which is around 10 km away from district capital Chaudi and about 12 km south-east of Palolem.

Sanguem, South Goa

Sanguem : Sanguem is a town situated in the Sanguem taluka of Goa. It is the capital of the taluka and has Villages such as Uguem, Chinchant, Valkini, Kadeabhag and Malkarnem as its neighbours.
Presently Sanguem has two residential chapels namely Uguem and Malkarnem and three non residential chapels Valkinim, Chinchant and Kadiabhag.
While in Sanguem, one can visit the Selaulim dam which is situated on the Selaulim river. It is considered a favourite picnic spot for locals and is also Goa's biggest man-made water storage source.
Sanguem is also bestowed with rich natural resources. As much as seventy percent of Sanguem taluka is thick natural forest and home to a large flora and fauna. Two major wildlife Sanctuaries of Goa and a Zoo have been carved out from this forest.
Goa's biggest dam -- Selaulim Irrigation Project -- built on Sanguem river, which is the major source of irrigation and drinking water also lies in Sanguem taluka.

Quepem, South Goa

Quepem : Quepem is a town and a municipal council in South Goa district. The town is the administrative capital of the Quepem district. Curchorem and Sanvordem are the major towns located in the Quepem District.
Located on the bank of River Kushawati, the city is known for the annual Ganeshotsav Festival, Carnival, and Shigmostav which is celebrated with pomp and gaiety.
While here one must visit the Holy Cross Church which is quite famous in the locality. Other attractions include Canaguinim Beach and Damodar Temple.
